Happy 75th Birthday, Denny!

Dear Friends of Denny,

Apologies for the long periods between posts. It has been a busy spring on my end, but a good spring on Dad's end. He's been working with a speech therapist and his swallowing is getting much stronger. He's even been able to eat a few more things including applesauce and puréed food. He's still waiting for the day he can eat a cheeseburger and cherry pie, but he is making good progress. He's also been working with a physical therapist at the Mad River Adult Activity Center. With their help, he's been able to use a walker to walk all the way around their rec room (about the size of a small gym)! He's getting stronger everyday, and we are thrilled.

This month was an especially exciting one for Dad. Last week he turned 75! Three quarters of a century is not bad. We are especially thrilled that he has reached this milestone after the past two years of challenges. He celebrated with Mom by going to one of his favorite places in Eureka, Cafe Marina, and taking a walk around Woodley Island.

He also took a trip down to Sacramento last weekend to see son, Kevin, graduate with his master's degree in ornithology from Sac State University. Kevin is clearly following in Dad's footsteps with his love of birds. His thesis focused on raptor habitat in the central valley. Dad and Mom are incredibly proud of him.

And here's something that I thought Dad would appreciate as a belated birthday gift:

Keep an eye out on this space as we plan to update more frequently this summer. Thanks for being patient with us!
