On the Mend

Dear Friends of Denny,

Just wanted to give you an update. Dad has been back home for a week now and is doing well. He has fought off the infection, but still needs to have one more procedure for the kidney-stone. That will happen soon.

Ready to enjoy the Eureka Symphony
In the meantime, he's been getting back to his routine; going to lunch with his lunch bunch on Friday. He's also been back to his day class and back to work on physical therapy. He has been working on walking with the help of a walker and spotters. He made it 24 feet this week! He will also plans to  attend a symphony concert this weekend!

He's been particularly happy as he is being honored this year by St. Bernard's School, which is inducting him into their Hall of Fame at the beginning of April. You all know how proud he is to be an alum of SB (Class of '57), so this is a major honor for him!

Thank you all for keeping him in your thoughts!

Happy St. Valentine's Day!

Dear Friends of Denny,

We wish you and yours a very happy St. Valentine's Day!

It is also a special day for Mom and Dad, their half year anniversary (they were married on August 14th, 1965).

Dad seems to have fought off the infection and the doctors are talking about sending him home, possibly tomorrow. He says he misses his own room and will be very happy to be home! We think he will also enjoy seeing how the rain has helped Jacoby Creek!

Dear Friends of Denny,

The last two weeks have been pretty tough. Dad has a kidney stone that is causing an infection. The type of infection he has can only be treated w/ an intravenous antibiotic,  so he spent ten days at St. Joe's with an IV. Cathy and Ron as well ask Micki and Mark came by to visit and help him pass the time. He gets pretty bored in the hospital (who wouldn't), so he really appreciated their visits. St. Joe's released him on Friday, so he was home to help celebrate Grandma Edie's 96th(!) birthday this weekend. Unfortunately, it looks like the infection was not completely gone, and he's heading back to St. Joe's today. It is doubly unfortunately, because they can't attack the kidney stone until the secondary infection is gone and he is stable.

Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers!
